Overview
Fox ears (狐耳, kitsunemimi) is used simply to refer to ears on an fox. The term fox ears here basically refers to those ears on humans and similar life forms as a moe element, and in most cases is not directly related to the fox itself.
Originally, there was a tradition that foxes bewitch humans, and the idea itself has been widely accepted.
In many cases, the foxes are believed to be young women at the time of the tradition, and fox girl is sometimes used as a half-way form of the word.
In combination with the belief in the god Inari Okami, whose messenger is a fox, the character has tended to be associated with attributes such as Shinto and Divine Power. In recent years, due in part to the increase in the number of foreign users, various character images have been discussed.
