Overview編集

Guilty Crown (ギルティクラウン, Giruti Kuraun), considered to the final original anime production of year 2011, is an anime directed by Tetsuro Araki, with the script written by Hiroyuki Yoshino, who also wrote the script for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. The characters are designed by redjuice, and the music is provided by Hiroyuki Sawano, with the opening theme and ending theme provided by ryo from supercell. The animation is done by Production I.G's Division 6.

During the production, redjuice commented that the illustrators and animators from the production staff felt that his concept art exhibited a sense of compatibility with final product, which lead for him to be chosen for the project. Among all the character, he is said to favor Inori, the main heroine of Guilty Crown. However, redjuice has also done many drawings of Tsugumi, which he felt that he accidentally let his personal tastes to slip into the design, since the staff had no qualms with the cat-like ears of Tsugumi. Initially Kanon was not originally written into the scenario but since she was included in one of the key visual drawings, Kanon got added into the roaster. As redjuice has not worked with 3D CG much, he was able to learn a lot from the staff at Production I.G.

The first two episodes of the show was screened at New York Anime Festival on October 15, 2011, where the screening of the second episode was the world premiere as the episode did not air in Japan until October 20, 2011. Funimation Entertainment also announced that they will simulcasted the series on October, followed by a DVD and Blu-ray release in 2012 at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2011.
