Overview
Touhou Reiiden ~ The Highly Responsive to Prayers (東方靈異伝 ~ The Highly Responsive to Prayers, lit. "Wondrous Tale") was exhibited and presented at the 20th Hatoyama Matsuri (November 1996), a cultural festival of the Faculty of Science and Technology of Tokyo Denki University. It was distributed from Comic Market 52 (August 1997). It was distributed at the 21st Hatoyama Matsuri and after while Junya Ota was a student, and was also available for mail order at Amusement Makers, a circle to which Junya Ota belonged, until September 19, 2002.
The style of the game is very different from later bullet-hell shooters, being a fixed-screen block-busting game. The only player can be selected is Reimu Hakurei.
The game splits into Makai route and Hell route in the middle of the game, and both have a total of 20 stages. The ending of the game changes depending on the route and whether or not the player continues, and there are a total of four different endings, including a bad one.
