Overview編集

Koichi Yamadera (山寺 宏一, Yamadera Kōichi) has been called one of the "voice actors with seven different voices," and is known for his wide range of acting ability and voice quality, from a gentle young man, a compassionate old man, and a serious narrator, to cool second-rate and high-octane comedy relief, to droll thug, black-hearted and ruthless villain, and even just dogs and noises. He has been voted the number one voice actor by voice actors (TV Asahi's program, Onegai Chosenkyo GOLD 3-hour special).

He is also well known as a dubbed Japanese voice actor for Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, and Jim Carrey.

He has met Will Smith several times, and the two are close friends. Smith himself has watched his own films dubbed by Yamadera and said, "Sometimes I wish I had acted the way he did". While there are many voice actors who have met the Hollywood actors they are dubbing, most of them have only met once, Yamadera is one of the few, along with Tesshou Genda (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Hiroya Ishimaru (Jackie Chan), and Tomoyuki Morikawa (Tom Cruise), who have met their dubbing partners more than twice.
