Overview
Magical girls (魔法少女, mahō shōjo) are heroines who deal with magic and mysterious powers that often appear in works set in the present day, and works in which such girls are the main characters.
It is featured in a wide range of media, including manga, anime, video games, children's books, picture books, and live-action films.
Although it has been a staple of works for girls and women, in recent years there has been an increase in works for men and adults.
