Overview
Young Witch (魔女っ子, majokko) is term referring to children among witches and female witches, including adults. It has also been used to emphasize cuteness and childhood. A more appropriate and closer translation would be witch child but sense the term also refers to magical girls it is usually translated as witch girl or magical girl.
In magical girl series, it is sometimes used to refer to a girl who is a natural born magic user (a girl who has gained the power to use magic through items, i.e. a magical girl). Again, this tag is theoretically not limited to girls, but can also be used for boys, but it is rarely seen.
It is a registered trademark of Toei Animation, and is rumored to be designated as a voluntary restraint term (a so-called "banned term") for use in some media.
