Plants (植物, shokubutsu or uemono) are a general term for trees, grasses, and mosses (and in some cases algae, fungi, and mushrooms).
They generally photosynthesize, their bodies are anchored to the substrate (soil, rocks, etc.), they do not prey on other organisms, and they are not active, although there are many exceptions.
