Overview
Panic (パニック, panikku) refers to a confused state of mind and accompanying behavior caused by uncontrollable agitation induced by sudden and intense stress, such as anxiety or fear.
The person loses the ability to make decisions, and is unable to do things that they would normally be able to do without difficulty.
Panic is often triggered when people find themselves in dangerous situations, and the inability to make normal decisions can lead to disastrous accidents.
Etymology
The word "Pan" is said to have originated in the Greek mythology of the half-animal god Pan, because it was believed that Pan was responsible for the sudden confusion that occurred among livestock, or because the Greek gods, fearing Typhon, disguised themselves as animals and fled to Egypt to become Egyptian gods, where the god Pan was disguised as a goat in the upper half of his body and a fish in the lower half.
