Overview
While the animation centers on a battle between goat and wolves, the plot settles down and uses a witty and humorous style to satirize social demerits. The animation is popular with children due to its lighthearted and witty themes.
In the year 3010 of the Goat Calendar (a fictitious calendar system in the story), one of the goat herds headed by Ruan Mianmian (or Old Mandy) took refuge in the "Green Green Grassland" the setting of this work, to avoid wolf pack attacks, and established a village called "Goat Village". The wolf pack tried to invade the goat village in every possible way to hunt the goat pack, but they always failed.
In the year 3509 of the Goat Calendar, the leader of the flock was replaced by the Slowy. In the year 3513 of the Goat Calendar, on the Green Green Grassland, the goat flock was already very prosperous and developed. There were already small towns within the goat tribe: there were schools, supermarkets, and all the goat of the goat tribe lived happily ever after.
The descendant of the leader of the wolf pack, Wolffy, was unable to gain a foothold in the wolf pack due to his low skills, so he took his wife, Wolnie, to settle in the forest on the other side of the Green Green Grassland. In order to realize their dream of eating goat, Mr. and Mrs. Wolffy tried all kinds of methods and inventions to deal with goats, while the goats also thought of ways to deal with them, and this "war" of wits and courage will last forever.
The conflict between Wolffy and Weslie never ends. Although Wolffy fails all the time, he never gives up. While he is mean to the goats, he is a nice and timid husband to Wolnie and a great dad to his son, Wilie. Wolnie is somewhat impatient and enjoys making her husband do all the work. She rarely tries to catch the goats herself (failing every time as well), but always yells at her husband. She likes fashion, is fixated on eating goats, and loves to hit Wolffy with her frying pan. Despite this fact, deep down Wolnie still loves her husband.
The cartoon became enormously popular with Chinese schoolchildren after its debut in 2005. Cashing in on the cartoon's success, the producer made an animated feature film in 2009. It generated a box office revenue of 79 million yuan (approx. US $11.5 million) during Spring Festival that year.
It is aired on over 40 local TV stations, including Zhejiang Television, CCTV and Aniworld Satellite Television, Hong Kong's TVB and Taiwan's Momo Kids.
