The word pretty (プリティ, puriti / プリティー, puritī) in English-speaking countries, usually refers to the external beauty of an adult woman's appearance, or scenery, etc. On the other hand, the word cute is used to distinguish the cuteness of children and animals. In Japan, however, both are usually lumped together to mean cute.
