A T-shirt (Tシャツ, tī-shatsu), originally, it was limited to use as underwear, in the U.S.. it began to be used as a fashion item in the 1950s. In Japan, it became popular as a sign of rebellion against society during the rise of youth culture in the 1970s.
Originally men's underwear, it is now worn by women as well.
It is available in a variety of colors and sizes, and can be coordinated in a very wide range of ways, including the basic form of a T-shirt and bottoms in summer, and winter clothes over a T-shirt in winter.
Most T-shirts are short-sleeved, but long-sleeved T-shirts are also distributed.
