A video game genre (コンピュータゲームのジャンル, konpyūtā gēmu no janru, lit. computer game genre) is the classification of genres for video games.
Since there are several classification systems for video games, almost all games fall into more than one category.
For example, a gal game may be classified as an adventure game or a nurturing simulation game in terms of rules.
