Overview
WiZ Inc. (株式会社ウィズ, Kabushiki Gaisha Wizu), founded in 1986, was a toy planning company. Akihiro Yokoi left Bandai in 1987 to become president.
Since then, he has worked with Bandai to create blockbusters such as Tamagotchi and Digital Monsters.
However, the company was not blessed with any other hits, and although it restarted the Tamagotchi in 2012 and the Digimon in 2014, it still lost money in 2015 and became a subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings. In 2016, the company became a wholly owned subsidiary, ending production of wholly original works and concentrating on planning Bandai Namco productions. In 2019, it was integrated into the company through an absorption merger with Plex, a toy planning and development function company under Bandai Namco, where the WiZ name disappear.
