Largest Battleships ever built

The Yamato-class Battleships were the largest Battleships ever built. Commissioned at the start of the Pacific War, these warships were the main component of the Imperial Japanese Navy's Battleship force. Both Yamato-class vessels would be sunk by US Navy air attacks during the final years of World War II. A third vessel (the IJN Shinano) was converted into an Aircraft Carrier but was sunk the US submarine USS Archer SS-311.
