IJN Nagato (戦艦長門) was the lead ship of the Nagato Class of Battleships.
History
Nagato did not see action until the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944. During the Battle of Leyte Gulf, Nagato got the chance to use her main guns against Allied vessels while assigned to the Center Force.
Despite being damaged numerous times, Nagato would go on to be the only Japanese Battleship not to be sunk during the course of the Pacific War. She was later captured and sunk by the United States in Operation Crossroads at Bikini Atoll in July 1946.
