Youkai (妖怪, yōkai) or yokai are supernatural entitys that is itself or causes mysterious phenomena that humans do not understand. In particular, it often refers to ghosts in Japanese folklore.
In Japan, yokai are one of the 8 million gods, and many yokai are enshrined in shrines, such as Ichimokuren and Hyousube.
