Railway

Railway is the one of the transportation facilities with wheeled vehicles running on rail tracks. A Rail vehicle which is called ”train” is guided by that tracks on which it runs.

Tracks are consisted of two steel rails except monorails and any other people mover.

The first railway in Japan opened in 1868. Now Japan has just over 30,000kms of rail track, and more than 100 railway companies. Many cities in Japan, like Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka and Sapporo and run their own subways, trams (streetcars), and/or other rail-based public transport as well.
