The GT-R are the sports cars produced by Nissan. The Skyline GT-R models also listed here.

Summary

The GT-R is one of Japan's iconic sports cars, especially the second generation GT-R cars.

Models

First Generation (1969-1972)

Model PGC10 (1969-1970) and KPGC10 (1970-1972)

ハコスカGT-R

The very first Skyline GT-R. It was released on February 4, 1969. internal designation code is PGC10. The popular name of this car is "Hakosuka".


The car, since its debut, had won 50 race matches.


Although introduced with only 4 door sedan model, later Nissan introduced the 2 doors coupe model in 1970.


The price of this model is 1.5 millions yen. (Expensive than a Skyline GT, which price at 800 thousands yen.)


The total of 832 PGC10 and 1,197 KPGC10 Skyline GT-Rs were produced.


Model KPGC110 (1973)

ケンとメリーのスカイラインGTR。

Released in 1973, it is a 2-doors coupe model based on the C110 model of Skyline. It equipped the same S20 Engine as the previous models. It was known as "Ken & Mary" Skyline.


However, the car is 45 kg heavier, the fuel tank capacity is half of that of previous GT-Rs.


Unlike the previous models, it uses the disc brakes on the rear wheel as opposed to drum brakes.


Unfortunately, it productions run ended prematurely due to not able to meet vehicle emission regulation requirement in Japan. As the result only 197 of this model were produced, with 2 of them are test race car.


Second Generation (1989-2002)

Model BNR32 (1989-1994)

The BNR32 Skyline GT-R, was introduced in 1989 along with the R32 Skyline.


The R32, due to it using the latest automobile technologies, was famously known for winning the touring car races around the globe. It won all matches of Japan Touring Car Championship before it was banned for racing.


It was the first Skyline GT-R model to be using the all-wheel-drive system


The R32 GT-R also had the V-specs and V-specs III models.


The total number of 43,934 unit of this model were produced.


Model BCNR33 (1995-1998)

BCNR33

The BCNR33 Skyline GT-R was released on 1995 with base model and V-specs model.


The V-specs model is equipped with improved ECU, ATTESA E-TS PRO all-wheel-drive system and Adaptive LSD.


However, the car's size is wider and heavier than the last model, and most people think it is a failed model in the Skyline GT-R sports cars.


As a result, only the 16,422 of this car model were produced.


The car was use in Le Mans 24 hours endurance race. It also sold overseas at the limited units.


The 4-doors sedan model was also introduced. It was the first Skyline GT-R model to be available in 4-doors sedan since the KPGC10 Skyline GT-R.


Model BNR34 (1999-2002)

The BNR34 Skyline GT-R was released on 1999. It was the last GT-R car model to be using the Skyline naming.


The car's size is smaller compare to the R33, and the aerodynamic of the car's body is improved. The gearbox was change from 5-speed manual to 6-speed manual.


It also equipped with the multi-function display to shows readings of engine and vehicle statistics.


Later Nissan introduced V-Specs II model and M-Specs model.


Unfortunately its production run ended in 2002 as it didn't meet the vehicle emission regulation requirement in Japan. Near the end of the production run, Nissan introduced two more models: the V-Specs II Nür and the N-Specs Nür models.


The total of 12,175 of this model were produced, which is not different from R33's production figures.


Thrid Generation (2007~)

Model R35 (2007~)

In 2007, Nissan released the R35 GT-R sports car. It no longer use the Skyline naming, as it was only called 'Nissan GT-R'.


It has a VR38DETT 3.8 litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The first model year only has 480 PS of engine power, but with 2014 model year it was increased to 550 PS.


Every piece of chassis is specifically designated for this model.


In Japan, in order to stop illegal customization of the car, Nissan has stated that if the GT-Rs were customized, then the warranty is voided and cannot be maintains through Nissan's High Performance Center because to it.
