The Grumman A-6 Intruder is a family of attack and later electronic warfare aircraft. The aircraft served with the US Navy and USMC in it's attack form between 1963 and 1997 while the EA-6B Prowler was used until 2019.
The Intruder was first used during the Vietnam War between 1965 and 1973, with VA-75 (which was the first A-6 squadron) used it on in combat while aboard the USS Independence CV-62. In 1975, several Intruders were used in an airstrike in Cambodia.
The Intruder also saw action in the 1980s in Lebanon, during Operation El Dorado Canyon in Libya and the Iran-Iraq War.
The A-6E TRAM Intruder and EA-6B Prowler would see action together again in the Gulf War, Operation Southern Watch and the Third Taiwan Strait crisis in 1996. The EA-6B would be used also in the War on Terror and the 2003 Iraq Invasion.
