Overview
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is known for developing and producing their x86 (later x86-64) CPUs. It is the only rival to Intel in the CPU market and since acquiring ATI in 2006, AMD is also the rival to Nvidia in the GPU market.
While there's some misunderstanding, AMD is the first to developed x86-64 instruction set architecture in the first place. Later Intel also produces their own X86-64 CPUs instead of IA-64 CPU (since 32-bit emulation on IA-64 is very slow, compared to X86-64).
Some of the newer CPUs and SoCs has the Radeon GPU core.
