Overview

Adachi and Shimamura (安達としまむら, Adachi to Shimamura) is a light novel series published by Dengeki Bunko. Author is Hitoma Iruma and illustrations are by Non. Eight volumes are already published. Known among fans by the abbreviation Adasima .

There are two comic adaptation versions: the Gangan ONLINE version, which has already finished serialisation, and the Dengeki Daioh version, which is currently being serialised. The Gangan ONLINE version was a three-volume series, with Mani in charge of the artwork. The Dengeki Daioh version is drawn by Moke Yuzuhara.

The work vividly depicts Adachi's special feelings for Shimamura, which are different from those of an ordinary friend, along with the unstable emotions peculiar to adolescence.

The narrator changes from chapter to chapter, which is a characteristic of this work, and as a rule, the story progresses from either Adachi's or Shimamura's point of view. The chapters are linked by various extra parts. In many cases, the narrators of these parts are not the two characters mentioned above.

A TV animation produced by Tezuka Productions was broadcast on TBS and BS11 from October 2020.

Plot

High school girls Adachi and Shimamura meet on the second floor of the gymnasium when they are both skipping class and become friends. They spend their time talking together, playing on the ping-pong table in the gymnasium and generally having a normal life together.
