Avatar (Sonic Forces)
The Avatar (アバター Abatā), Custom Hero (カスタムヒーロー Kasutamu Hīrō), or Custom Character(カスタムキャラクター Kasutamu Kyarakutā) is the first custom character in the Sonic series, appearing in Sonic Forces.
The concept was to respond to a long-standing request from players, mainly from westerns, to have their own original characters in Sonic games.
The game also allows players to connect to the network and rent avatars from other players, allowing them to switch between their own avatars and rented avatars as they conquer the game.
Since Avatar is a proper name and not their real name, Sonic and his friends call them buddy, rookie (ルーキー Rūkī), or newbie. In the second person in the Japanese version, they will go by anata (あなた) or kimi (キミ).
In the storyline, the player is invited as a new member of the Resistance as a survivor of Infinite's attack on the city, and uses the power of their bond with the Wispons and Sonic to fight against Dr. Eggman's army and Infinite.
