Overview
Aztec mythology (アステカ神話, Asuteka shinwa) as in Indian mythology, it is characterized by placing a huge span of world period (cycle of creation and destruction of the universe) in its view of history.
According to the mythology, we are now in the fifth created world.
The present world was created by two pillars, Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca.
They created the sun after rebuilding the world and creating mankind, but at first it did not move.
It was only after the gods offered their flesh and blood that the sun finally began to function.
It was assumed that humans must also continue to offer sacrifices in order to maintain the function of the sun, which was set in motion by the sacrifices of the gods.
