Production Overview
Written as a series of short stories for Mephisto magazine, the published stories followed by a set of new ones were collected into two volumes published under the Kodansha Box title on 1 November 2006 and 1 December 2006 respectively.
Bakemonogatari later received an anime adaption by Studio Shaft with Akiyuki Shinbo as director and started airing on 3 July 2009. After the anime ended on 25 September 2009, the official website streamed 3 ONA episodes on 3 November 2009, 23 February 2010 and 25 June 2010.
As part of the "Monogatari" series, Bakemonogatari is the first series to be published but story-wise it is the second due to Kizumonogatari, the second light novel series being the prequel.
