The Defection of Viktor Belenko (known in Japan as the MiG-25 Incident or MiG25事件) was a Cold War incident. On 6 September 1976, MiG-25P Foxbat-A Red 31 flown by PVO Strany pilot Viktor Belenko; violated Japanese Air Space before landing at Hakodate Airport. Belenko's defection to the West allowed a close look at the top secret Foxbat.
