The F-14A+ 'Bombcat' was the 2nd major F-14 variant built by Grumman. It entered service in the late 1980s. The F-14A+ was the first F-14 variant to use the General Electric F110-GE-400 engines, replacing the problematic Pratt & Whitney TF30s. The F-14A+ first saw action with VF-74 and VF-103 during the Gulf War. After 1991, all Pacific Fleet F-14A+s were handed over to the Atlantic Fleet. The F-14A+ was renamed the F-14B during the 1990s.
