The Grumman F9F Panther and the F9F Cougar are a family of multi-role fighter aircraft built by Grumman in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The Panther conducted the first carrier jet strike in history on 3 July 1950 during the Korean War and later became the first jet aircraft to shoot down another jet aircraft when an F9F shot down a MiG-15.
