Ikuyo Kita (喜多郁代, Kita Ikuyo) is a character in the manga and anime series Bocchi the Rock! by Aki Hamaji.

She is the guitarist and vocalist of the four-piece band Kessoku Band.

She was a first-year high school student when she first appeared in the series, and moved up to second year in volume 3. She went to the same high school as Hitori Gotou and was in the same class with her in her second year.

Personality

She is a beautiful girl who is sociable, has many friends and actively uses SNS. She is also good at athletics and is often called upon to help out in club activities.

Because of her words and behaviour, she often inflicts damage on Hitori without any malice towards her.

She has a crush on Ryou Yamada when she sees her at a street live performance, and in the heat of the moment joins the 'Kessoku Band' while hiding the fact that she cannot play the guitar. However, no matter how much she practised, she couldn't master the guitar, so she ran away on the day of the concert. Hitori joined to fill the gap.

Later, she was attracted to Hitori's performance and just as she was about to ask Hitori to teach her how to play the guitar, she met Nijika and Ryou again. She told them about her actual situation, apologised and tried to leave, but Hitori kept her and she joined the 'Kessoku Band' again.

The reason why she could not play the guitar was because she had bought a multi-string bass by mistake due to her lack of instrumental knowledge. The bass was bought by Ryo, but by volume 3 it had already been resold.

Since then, she has been active as a guitarist and vocalist while learning guitar from Hitori. Although she was initially concerned about her skills, she eventually improved to be able to improvise during a performance.

She also manages the official SNS of Kessoku Band and is in charge of publicity as 'Minister of SNS', taking advantage of her familiarity with SNS (15,000 isostagram followers). However, although the number of followers has increased, it has turned into Kita's private beauty account, and when she announced a live concert, she was surprised and asked if they were really a band.

She is basically called 'Kita-chan', and her name was revealed in the last episode of volume 1.

She seems to dislike her own full name which is like a pun ("Kita Ikuyo" sounds in Japanese like "I'm coming! Let's go!" ), and when it was discovered, she fell flat on her face like Hitori.

As mentioned above, it was her crush on Ryou that led her to join Kessoku Band, and the reasons for joining were described thus: 'A band is like a second family, isn't it? and '(The relationship between a band is) a wonderful thing that transcends friends and lovers', she said to Hitori. In addition, she further said, I wanted to be the senpai (=Ryou)'s daughter', to which, indeed, Hitori turned off.
