Being a Saurian hunter is an unusual occupation, and not everyone approves of it. But sometimes, a conflict emerges where there's no pleasing both sides, and someone has to step up and get their hands dirty. I have no problem being that person, as long as the price is right.

Overview
Kinich is a Saurian Hunter from the Scions of the Canopy with the Ancient Name "Malipo", Kinich is a taciturn individual who has a knack for calculating the price of any request. He is almost always seen with the egocentric self-proclaimed "Almighty Dragonlord" K'uhul Ajaw.
Skilled in his abilities as a Huitztlan Saurian Hunter, Kinich assesses commissions and confidently sets prices without a hint of chivalrous decorum, often causing others to look askance at the boy. However, Kinich appears not to be fazed by the opinions of people around him. As long as the price is right, he will fulfill all commissions in a satisfactory manner.
Despite his reserved nature, Kinich has no problem making negotiations or talking back to others when the situation calls for it. In the common occurrence in which Ajaw is bickering with him, Kinich is seen proficiently putting a stop to it, while without succumbing to anger or violence. When Kachina was under pressure in the Pilgrimage, Kinich assisted Mualani in comforting Kachina, despite his eccentric and logic-driven way of doing so. Despite his unfazed and realistic demeanor, he clearly exhibits good intentions and cares deeply about those who manage to get close to him.
Talents
- Normal Attack: Nightsun Style
- Normal Attack: Performs up to 3 rapid strikes. After using his Elemental Skill: Nightsun Style's mid-air swing, he can perform a Normal Attack in mid-air before landing.
- Charged Attack: Consumes Stamina to spin and throw his Claymore forward to attack opponents.
- Plunging Attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE Damage upon impact.
- Elemental Skill: Canopy Hunter: Riding High
Ajaw: Ten points for agility.
Ajaw: Are you running away!?
Ajaw: You really are a one-trick pony, you know...
Kinich: Locked on.
Kinich: Target acquired.
Kinich: I got 'em cornered.
Kinich uses his big-game hunting skills to either move swiftly or attack his opponent.
When there is an enemy or object that can be attacked nearby, he will attach a grappling hook to the target and enter Nightsoul's Blessing with 0 Nightsoul points. If neither is nearby, he fires a grappling hook forward and swings in mid-air, and this Skill's Cooldown is decreased by 60%.
This skill can be Held to release. When it is Held, Kinich can aim the grappling hook.
Nightsoul's Blessing: Kinich
Kinich's Nightsoul's Blessing lasts 10 seconds and generates 2 Nightsoul points every second.
In this state, Kinich will hook onto a nearby enemy and perform a variable attack:
When using a Normal Attack, Kinich will fire Loop Shots as he loops around the grappled target based on his current movement direction, dealing Nightsoul-aligned Dendro Damage and generating 3 Nightsoul points. Loop Shot Damage is considered Elemental Skill Damage.
When Nightsoul points are at max, he can use the Elemental Skill: Scalespiker Cannon: Consume all Nightsoul points to deal Nightsoul-aligned Dendro Damage. When Scalespiker Cannon is Held, Kinich can aim this shot. After firing the Cannon, Kinich will try to grapple to its target.
While in Nightsoul's Blessing, after grappling an enemy or firing Scalespiker Cannon, a Blind Spot will be generated next to the enemy. When Kinich enters this Blind Spot, it will disappear and he will generate 4 Nightsoul points.
If the grapple connection should snap due to exceeding the maximum distance or some other reason, using a Normal Attack will establish a new connection with a nearby enemy before performing Loop Shots.
- Elemental Burst: Hail to the Almighty Dragonlord
Kinich: For the Lord of the Night.
Kinich: Claim these souls.
Kinich: Shadow of the past, mine to command.
Ajaw: Bow before your King!
Ajaw: Full glory!
Ajaw: Let the dead wood blaze in dragon-fire!
Ajaw: I burn it all, ALL!
Ajaw: Ahh, it feels good!
Ajaw: Submit your souls in sacrifice.
Ajaw: Hah? Scared speechless?
Ajaw: Then forever hold your peace!
Ajaw: Ours is a glory to which none can compare!
Ajaw: Especially not when I'm in a bad mood.
Ajaw: Measly insects, now you must pay!
Unleashes the power of the Almighty Dragonlord, K'uhul Ajaw, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Dendro Damage. Ajaw will unleash his Dragon Breath at intervals, dealing Nightsoul-aligned AoE Dendro Damage.
If Kinich is in Nightsoul's Blessing when this is used, this Blessing's duration is extended by 1.7 seconds.
- 1st Ascension Passive: The Price of Desolation
When Kinich is in Nightsoul's Blessing state, enemies hit by his Elemental Skill will enter the Desolation state, and when affected by Burning or Burgeon reaction Damage, they will restore 7 Nightsoul points to him. Nightsoul points can be gained this way once every 0.8 seconds. The Desolation state will persist until this instance of Kinich's Nightsoul's Blessing state ends.
- 4th Ascension Passive: Flame Spirit Pact
After a nearby party member triggers a Nightsoul Burst, Kinich will gain 1 stack of Hunter's Experience that lasts 15 seconds. Max 2 stacks. When Kinich uses Canopy Hunter: Riding High's Scalespiker Cannon, all stacks of Hunter's Experience will be consumed, with each stack consumed increasing the Damage dealt by this Cannon shot by 320% of Kinich's ATK.
- Night Realm's Gift Passive: Repaid in Full
When Kinich is in the air following Elemental Skill: Canopy Hunter: Riding High's mid-air swing, he can consume 10 Phlogiston points to perform another mid-air swing.
While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, he can use Nightsoul Transmission: Kinich. When the current active character is sprinting, in movement states that result from specific Talents, or in the air, when you switch to Kinich: Kinich will perform one of the following actions depending on the conditions met:
- When facing a Coilgrass Sigil that can be interacted with: He will fire a grappling hook towards it to move;
- When there are nearby enemies and you are in combat: Kinich will use Elemental Skill: Canopy Hunter: Riding High in the direction of the enemies;
Otherwise, Kinich will fire a grappling hook and swing, prioritizing valid Coilgrass Sigils as grapple targets.
Nightsoul Transmission can be triggered once every 10 seconds by your own party.
When interacting with Coilgrass Sigils and other items that Yumkasaurs can interact with, Elemental Skill: Canopy Hunter: Riding High will be converted to Yumkasaur MimesisElemental Skill: Canopy Hunter: Riding High, which causes interactions with such items to follow rules applicable to Yumkasaurs, and which will not put Elemental Skill: Canopy Hunter: Riding High on Cooldown.
- Utility Passive: Swift Envoy
While in an area with Phlogiston Mechanics within Natlan, interacting with some harvestable items will increase your own party members' Movement Speed by 15% for 10 seconds. Additionally, the location of nearby resources unique to Natlan will appear on your mini-map.

About Other Characters
This part is about what Kinich thinks about the other characters in Genshin Impact.
I've taken jobs from her before. She offered to pay me to act as a "battle advisor," and the Mora was good, so I accepted. After working with her a few times, though, I noticed she's not exactly a pushover. When I pressed her about it, she eventually admitted that "battle advisor" was just code for mentoring Kachina in wilderness survival...
So a "battle against nature," then. Hmm, I'd probably just call that "life."
Anyway, that business is concluded, and I now have two new acquaintances.
I saw a job posting about her once. Some lowlifes from her tribe got jealous that she'd received an ancient name, and basically tried to order a hit on her Saurian companion... They paid the price, I made sure of that.
I saw a strange job posting once while passing by the Children of Echoes' territory. The requester was looking for a hardy plant that wouldn't take much maintenance, so I brought over some Saurian claw succulent seeds, along with a pot and some fertilizer. It grows well all over Natlan, even in the most barren areas. But when I went to collect my payment, I saw that not a single seedling had sprouted from the pot.
I paid the price for overestimating Xilonen's gardening skills. This was one of the few failed jobs on my record.
For most of my life, I've been getting others to pay a price. Then, the Pyro Archon used the Ode of Resurrection to bring me back from the Night Kingdom, and suddenly I was the one paying the price... Only then did I finally understand it from both sides. To the stronger party, the "price" is a bargaining chip, and to the weaker party, it's a sign of what's at stake. What matters is whether you have the courage to make the gamble.
I've seen how she handles her work. Our methods of conflict-resolution are quite different. I tend to get one party to shut up, but she silences both. By the time they wake up in their sick beds, they have nothing further to say, because they've forgotten whatever it was they were fighting about.
Kinich: I've taken jobs from her before. More of a long-term collaboration, really... She makes fitness meals for her personal-training students, with everything measured out to the exact calorie. To keep this up, she needs a steady supply of fruits that meet her strict quality standards and size requirements. A single bruise or bug bite, and she'll reject the entire batch. Most people find this impossible to work with, but I've got a good eye for these things... plus a reliable means of disposal for fruits that don't make the grade.
Ajaw: Wait, what? ...THAT'S what you make my juice from!?
As you can probably guess, I've taken jobs from her before. I helped her purchase a heavy stack of paper-based reading material from an Inazuman merchant. Not to pry into my clients' private affairs, but... don't the Masters of the Night-Wind use woven fabric instead of paper?
Kinich: I've enlisted his services before. It was when Ajaw said he was "ill"... Whatever it was, he was ranting and crying incessantly. So, I figured it only made sense to take him to the best sauro-vet I could find. And he really is a pro. Ajaw wasn't inside for long, but when Ifa brought him out, he was cured.
Ajaw: Gah... What do you know about medicine! He's not even a real doctor, he's a quack! A charlatan! ...You weren't even there, you don't know what he said! Ugh.
Digression
- His name is based on Kinich Ahau, the Yucatec name of the Maya sun god.
- In the Japanese version, Kinich is voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama and K'uhul Ajaw is voiced by Junko Takeuchi, and these actors also voiced Sasuke and Naruto from the manga/anime series NARUTO. This fact accidentally made the entire Genshin Impact player community feel excited because of miHoYo's sophisticated insertion.
