Overview
May (5月, gogatsu, lit. fifth month) is the fifth month of the year and the second month in the Japanese (government/corporate) fiscal year (April - March). It is also the first month in the fiscal year to have 31 days.
The first half of the year is famous for Golden Week.
The synchronization of the year is not at all including leap years with June, but January of the following year corresponds to which month in the fiscal year.
In addition to clothing, sales related to summer will begin at sales counters. In the latter half of the year, sales of mid-summer gifts will also begin.
The Golden Week holiday season is also a profitable time for leisure facilities. However, this also brings with it crowds at tourist spots and traffic jams.
In the Hokkaido region, the cherry blossom viewing season begins in the beginning of the season.
