Overview
Rin Kaenbyou (火焔猫 燐, Kaenbyou Rin) is one of the pets of Satori Komeiji, the boss of the fourth level of Subterranean Animism. She is a youkai who is in charge of managing the spirits and corpses in the Remains of Blazing Hell, and is able to speak with spirits and corpses.
She hates that her real name is so long, so she makes everyone call her Orin.
Her real name is not shown in the book, and her alias Orin is also shown in conversation events. Her real name is given in the CharacterSettei.txt file included with Subterranean Animism.
Her hobby is collecting corpses to use as fuel for the Remains of Blazing Hell, and she loads the corpses she obtains into her own cat car and takes them away. On the other hand, she is not interested in living people, and since she recognize that corpses killed by youkai are trivial, she basically do not attack people themselves for the sake of corpses.
In fact, she is one of the safest youkai in the underground.
She was an old friend of Utsuho Reiuji, but she was displeased with Utsuho's getting carried away with her power, so she sent a vengeful spirit to the earth to alert the earthly youkai to the anomaly, and to get Utsuho to do something about it. This is the story of the Subterranean Animism anomaly.
In the series, he appears many times as a black cat with a "meow" (にゃーん) sound, and is the middle boss of the game.
When she is in black cat form, her name is not displayed on the left side of the life gauge, and there is no cut-in when she activates her spell cards.
The reason why she was in cat form was because it was easier for her to transform into cat form than to stay in her original form.
Since the cataclysm, she often appears on the ground and visits Hakurei Shrine and other places for fun. She seems to get along well with Reimu.
