Lore
Early Life
Sona was left in a monastery as an infant at the Ionian province of Galrin (In the region of Houhjo) on the doorstep of a monastery.
No other clue about her origins is known besides a mysterious magical instrument that was delivered with her called Etwahl (pronounced Etoile).
She had a close relationship with the other children on the monastery as they would seek comfort with her.
She was considered quirky and unusually well behaved and silent, her caretakers soon found out she was in fact mute, Sona remained until her teens in the monsastery as she watched many of her friend getting adopted, during this time her caretakers tried multiple times on selling the Etwahl, to build her a trust fund, but in the end the Etwahl always managed to come back to her.
Sona had to seek refuge in Demacia once the Noxian invasion on Ionia started, alongside many other children from the orphanages they went on a months voyage thanks to the help of merchants and their connections with the Illuminators (A faction of monks in Demacia), around 985 AN.
She was eventually adopted into the Buvelle noble house, who were patrons of the arts and the Illuminators, mainly due to Lestara Buvelle's interest on her musical skins and probably more due to her connection to the fabled mythical Etwahl, that predated even the founding of Demacia, in her biography that currently seems outdated there's a "bifurcation" of sorts, where Sona is the one who finds out about the Etwahl by looking into the Demacian Library and the other outdated version where Lestara is the one who tells her about this.
Once she joined the Buvelles, she was quickly doted and accepted by both Barret Buvelle and lestara Buvelle, even more so by her new younger sister, Kahina Buvelle, their bond was so strong they even created a sign system to communicate between themselves, sadly Demacia was very anti mage so problems arose the moment Sona's true nature was discovered, her musical skills were not only "magical" due to her being a virtuoso of the strings, but also because she was actually a mage, Barrett was probably the first one to find out, when he found out, he immediately went for Lestara to talk in private, there he revealed what he had seen, Sona performing magic, Lestara quickly put her daughter before her marriage, and threatened Barret with leaving with Sona and Kahina if he wanted to report Sona, confused Barret asked what would they do in case it became known, from that point they swore to keep the secret.
Due to Sona's supernatural connection with the etwahl, and it being a magic antique, Lestara made Sona keep it as a secret even if it was a gift that could help the people of Demacia, as to avoid getting the attention of the Mageseekers (A Faction within Demacia that is very radical on their way of dealing with Magic beings and artifacts)
Some years later, during a Hunting party composed of mainly Demacian nobles, Lord Barret Buvelle, Quinn and her brother Caleb (hunters from the Uwendale), a massive Tuskvore attacked the party, it almost killed Barret Buvelle, but Caleb sacrificed himself in order to fend off the beast, Quinn was left broken until Valor, an azurite eagle saved her once the Tuskvore returned to finish its job, Lestara felt indebted to Quinn and helped her get in contact with Tianna Crownguard (Aunt of Luxanna and Garen) who gave in and made her a Ranger of Demacia.
Sona's adoptive father died at the Gates of Mourning when Noxian forces ambushed King Jarvan III, he protected the king and repeled the enemy forces with his sacrifice. Once the day of his funeral came, most Demacians mourned and some (the Mageseekers) tried using it as a political rally, at the end, Sona played a song that made everyone tear up, and Lestara announced that the House Buvelle would become the Library of Demacia, naming it the Alabaster Library which not only would be open for everyone but also she would donate the art and books the Buvelle House had collected.
Recent times
Once Kahina took the sword and her father's role, Lestara with a broken heart, decided there was nothing else in Demacia for her, she decided to take Sona back to Ionia.
Even though Ionia managed to beat the Noxian army, there were scars of war everywhere on the land, and even deeper wounds within its people, Sona soon found, this Ionia was no more the one she grew in, she departed Ionia once again (According to the wiki and the Warriors Ad, at some point during her stay in Ionia Sona met Irelia and helped Ryze getting one of the World runes), alongside her mother.
During the time they both left, with Jarvan III dead and Jarvan IV not being up to the task, the Mageseekers had no reins, and went mad with power, incarcerating innocents and making many of them drink Petricite a rock-like wood that absorbs magic, many of them were persecuted and executed
Currently, she's at odds, she feels a stranger in her birthplace and the place where she grew has become extremely hostile against her kin.
Some time in the future she marries Loskberg and lives a happy life
