Overview
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (Chinese: 成都大熊猫繁育研究基地; or simply Chengdu Panda Base) is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals in Chengdu, Sichuan, People's Republic of China.
Chengdu Panda Base was established in March 1987. By 2011, a total of 172 pandas had been successfully bred.
Chengdu Panda Base is a world-renowned facility for panda breeding research, conservation education, and educational tourism.
Chengdu Panda Base has collaborated with many organizations to improve panda conservation practices; in 1994, Japan's Adventure World became the first organization in the world to collaborate, and by June 2017 had successfully bred and raised 15 pandas.
