Overview
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (天元突破グレンラガン, Tengen Toppa Guren Ragan, lit. "Heaven-Piercing Gurren Lagann"), is the Japanese title of Gurren Lagann (グレンラガン Guren Ragan), a robot anime series produced by Gainax, Aniplex and Konami Digital Entertainment, which was broadcast from 1 April to 30 September 2007. 27 episodes in total.
It was followed by Gurren Lagann the Movie: Childhood's End in September 2008 and Gurren Lagann the Movie: The Lights in the Sky are Stars in April 2009.
With the theme "Drill is a man's romanticism", these works took on the drills and human drama head-on.
The content is absurd to the point of ridiculousness, but at the same time it is a profound and exhilarating paean to mankind, saying that anything is possible if one believes in oneself and one's fellow human beings.
As can be seen from the director's own bold statement that he was "bathed in the Getter Rays", there is a very strong influence from the great robot animation Getter Robo of the previous century. This can be seen from how passionate the scenes in the story are.
