Overview
Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- (月姫 -A piece of blue glass moon-) is a consumer remake of the doujin game Tsukihime released on August 26, 2021 for PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
The target age is "Z" (for 18+ only under CERO). Note that it is not for all ages due to the "Z" rating being legally enforced.
Note that the content descriptor icons (which indicate the expressions used to determine the target age group) are crime and violence. Since romance and sexuality are not included, gross expressions are thought to be the reason for the Z rating (especially the 17 segments in the beginning).
The official and fan abbreviation is TsukihimeR (月姫R).
Instead of greatly increasing the volume of a single scenario, this title contains only the Arcueid and Ciel routes. According to the official description, the game takes 40 hours to play, or 60 hours if you listen to the voices carefully.
The so-called "far side routes" of Akiha, Hisui, and Kohaku will be included in the next game, which will depict "the other side of the moon".
The routes in this work have been given new subtitles as follows
- Arcueid route: Tsukihime (月姫, Moon Princess)
- Ciel route: Rainbow in the Night (夜の虹)
Changes from the Doujin Version
The scenarios has been updated and the character designs have been changed. The character dialogues are fully voiced, but the cast is new and different from both Shingetsutan Tsukihime and Melty Blood.
The doujin version was set in 1999 in a provincial city near Kanto, but the remake was rewritten to take place in Tokyo in the 2010s. According to an interview with the producer, this was done with the intention of making the scale of the story larger than the original with him saying "We wanted to go Hollywood in a big city".
As Kinoko Nasu has long said, the setting of the game has been updated, including the The Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors.
The number of sub-characters has also increased, but many of them are portrayed in a more subdued manner, as if their full-fledged appearances will be "behind the scenes".
