Overview
Arcueid Brunestud (アルクェイド・ブリュンスタッド, Arukueido Buryunsutaddo) is main heroine from Tsukihime. She is vampire princess, at the first contact, she was killed by Shiki but re-formed her body.
She is one of the vampires known as the True Ancestor and one of the strongest figures in the Tsukihime series. She is also known as Princess of the True Ancestors, Last True Ancestor, and Heir of the Crimson Moon.
Although she is a vampire, she does not suck blood but like one she overcomes the effects of sunlight. Even when she is exposed to it, she only feels "tired".
She is a popular character who has always been ranked No. 1 in the official popularity polls of Tsukihime.
Background
Around the 12th century, the family of the True Ancestors created a "man-made True Ancestor" so to speak, in search of the "the strongest True Ancestor", a battle doll created to execute fallen brethren.
The guardian was Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg, the fourth of the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors.
For a while, she was used for her intended purpose, but because of her excessive potential, it was feared that she would become a "vessel" for reviving the Crimson Moon, and her memories and emotions were frequently reset after her targets were destroyed to prevent her from growing any further.
Later, she fell prey to Michael Roa Valdamjong's adulterous scheme and went berserk, killing the True Ancestors who were present. She recognized Roa as a vindictive enemy who has humiliated her, and thereafter, whenever Roa is reincarnated, she acts to eliminate him. Before fighting Roa, she has been sleeping in her castle, Millennium Castle Brunestud, while restraining herself to control her vampiric impulses and regain sanity.
Sensing his 17th reincarnation, she comes to Japan. During her pursuit of Roa, she had a shocking encounter with Shiki. and she enlists Shiki's help in the search for Roa.
After the case was solved in the main story, she stayed in Misaki Town because she liked Shiki, and usually lives a comfortable and self-indulgent life as a recluse in an apartment.
She is said to be extremely rich in terms of financial resources (Or rather, it is said that she is able to create gold nuggets through the embodiment of Marble Phantasm).
She also signed a contract for a condo, took a plane ride to travel to another country, and in the drama CD that follows Melty Blood Actress Again, she has obtained a driver's license for driving a car.
In the Fate world, the premise is the affirmation of human reason, so the framework of the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors does not exist, and the prerequisites and abilities of other people are different, but it is mentioned that only she and Ciel's abilities do not change even if their backgrounds are somewhat different from those in the Tsukihime world.
Appearance
She is a beautiful woman with short bobbed blonde hair that reaches down to her neck and red eyes unique to vampires. She is one of the most beautiful women in the entire Type-Moon community, and her figure is seen as well proportioned as her looks.
She is often described as an overwhelmingly beautiful woman.
Originally, her hair was long enough to reach above her waist, but her older sister Altrouge Brunestud took it away from her, making it unrecoverable. It is said that it will not come back unless she defeats her sister.
Doujin Version
With her hair she has intakes in the front and either gets one or two strands of ahoge hair protruding from the parting.
Her overall silhouette is square. She usually wears a white turtleneck sweater and a purple long skirt, and black stockings and pumps.
Remake Version
The intakes is more modest and the silhouette is rounder. The ahoge hair remains the same.
Clothing has also been changed to a blue miniskirt, black tights, and somewhat long boots. The white turtleneck remains the same, it is less loose and is now wearing a pendant that has been added to the chest.
From the image of a mature older sister, the visual is now closer to that of a girl of the same age as Shiki.
The overall commonality is that she prefers simple white-based clothing.
However, as of Tsukihime, Arcueid herself is not very concerned about her own appearance, so it is thought that her choice of clothes is not based on her own fashion sense or policy, but rather on the safe clothes that will not make her look out of place in human society.
In addition, date clothes and a combat dress against Vlov have been newly added to the collection.
Archetype: Earth
In her True Ancestor form, she wears a white and blue dress and has a very solemn appearance.
The design has not changed much in the doujinshi and remake versions but has a few different versions of the design in Fate/Grand Order.
Personality
She is an emotional, innocent, sometimes selfish and capricious "cat" like woman. Originally, however, she was like a battle doll without a personality, and her weather-beaten personality and ego seem to have been born from a kind of bug that occurred in the process of regenerating from Shiki's attack, which had been divided into 17 parts.
She is usually cheerful and carefree. Her easygoing nature has earned her the not-so-favorable nickname of idiot princess (あーぱー姫) from her fans. However, by nature, she is pessimistic and introverted, and tends to look backward. As a princess, she is well-educated, but her lack of social experience and lack of self-control make her selfish and capricious.
Although the above-mentioned cheerful personality tends to be the focus of attention, surprisingly, she does not respond like that to everyone, as she basically shows a casual attitude toward most of the people she deals with.
Perhaps because she is a True Ancestor who fundamentally thinks and acts according to the order of nature, she does not hate humans, but to be frank, she is basically uninterested in humans themselves.
She is friendly when she recognizes that the person she is talking to is someone she is somewhat familiar with, someone who knows Shiki, someone she is somewhat comfortable with, or someone she is interested in.
Overall, the character has a very clear attitude of liking what she likes and not being interested in anything boring.
Hobbies
Something she normally didn't have but now she enjoys watching movies, perhaps because she was so impressed by the detailed descriptions of the films when she went to see them for the first time with Shiki. Basically, she watches anything regardless of genre, such as romance, action, and children's movies.
However, she sometimes picks up biased knowledge from movies and TV.
She usually goes to see movies with Shiki as a date, but she also goes to see movies alone.
Romantic Side
She is the type of person who shows her love for Shiki in an easy-to-understand manner, such as by showing a very straightforward affection for him.
While the other heroines are trying to control each other over the series, she, as the first candidate, is taking a very easygoing or big-hearted stance, saying, "I want to get along well with everyone".
In the ending of one of the characters in Melty Blood Actress Again, she shows a glimpse of confidence that "Shiki is the one who saves me in the end" (although it was her biggest rival who really saved her).
When Shiki doesn't pay attention to her or makes mean comments, she gets cranky and sulks, which can be easily seen in her personality.
She is the type of person who will do whatever she wants to do, and she can be selfish like a princess.
Arcueid's Route
However, unlike her current image of being naively affectionate, in Tsukihime's original work, she is surprisingly primitive and reserved when it comes to romance.
She also shows her is pessimistic nature, such as her recognition that she is not liked by Shiki, although she likes Shiki.
She is especially afraid of her own blood-sucking impulses after having only once sucked blood in the past, and perhaps out of regret for having killed all the true ancestors herself, her fear and conflict over hurting her beloved Shiki with her blood-sucking impulses are a major theme in this route. As can be seen from her famous line, "I don't suck blood because I love Shiki," she shows a maiden's heart, saying that she doesn't want to cause trouble for Shiki because she loves him so much.
Ciel's route
She also shows quite a bit of possessiveness as she stands in the way at the end to make Shiki, whom she likes for a change, her own by murderous love.
In the true ending, she withdraws because of a broken heart, but in the good ending, she continues her relationship with Shiki and Ciel, recognizing that she still has a chance to become Shiki's number one.
The Ciel route in the remake will show players just how much of a monster the royalty of the True Ancestors are.
She is seen as one of the best yandere types in Type-Moon when it comes to romance.
Combat Side
As mentioned above, she is a carefree princess, but when confronted with an adversary representing the Dead Apostles, she turns into a cool-headed fighting princess.
Although she will sometimes go easy on an opponent who may or may not be an enemy, she shows no mercy to those she recognizes as enemies, and there is no play involved.
She is also willing to use her extraordinary ability of Marble Phantasm to hunt down powerful opponents.
She is also highly observant and analytical, and even if she is placed in an unusual situation, she is able to immediately detect and respond to it. For this reason, she is often second only to Ciel in the role of commentator.
On the other hand, she rarely formulates strategies, but like someone who is often compared to her, she can overwhelm almost any enemy head on, so it would be more accurate to say that this is useless for her to have.
When she fights with her close acquaintances such as Shiki, Ciel, and Akiha, she basically considers it a game, and enjoys the fact that she now has more people to play with if they show the strength to catch up with her.
It is not easy for the opponent to fight with such a fierce beast that is playing with them but going all out for them.
As Royalty
She also has other aspects that are typical of royalty, such as her cat-like capriciousness and princess-like nobility, such as her blunt response to those who are disrespectful or uninterested in her.
Especially when it comes to those involved in the mystic arts, such as magicians (such as Aoko), and recognizes them as those who approach her territory, and as a True Ancestor, she is often strict and cautious in her responses.
On the other hand, she has the decency to lend an ear to those who have been courteous to her, and even those who have caused a major incident can be treated as bystanders if they are not harmful to her, showing her attitude as a transcendent person.
Incidentally, when she shows her royal side, her eyes turn gold.
Abilities
A few are these are being a True Ancestor, a "mediator with nature" who rules mankind, being created by the survival device for the planet Earth that feared mankind, incarnates Nature Spirits and is extremely close to immortality under the full moon.
It could be said that she is a god-like being, but she denies it when someone actually treats her as a god. Gods, or in other words, divine spirits, are nature corrupted to a form that can be recognized by humans, and they are lower in rank than her, who is a natural phenomenon itself.
She basically fights with empty hands by forming them into claws to cut off enemies.
In terms of strength, speed, and endurance, she is one of the most powerful living organisms in the Nasuverse, and is truly the best.
If the claws is wielded seriously, the aftermath generates a shockwave that moves so fast that even trained experts and non-human monsters cannot see it. In the remake version, it is described as stepping with the speed of lightning.
In addition to her high specifications, she does not have any special defensive abilities, but she is resistant to Conceptual Weapons and forms of magecraft, so even ordinary magic is ineffective and can be shot away forcefully. She states she possibly vulnerable to magecraft she has yet to experience such as ancient Shinto magecraft from Japan and treasures from South America.
She truly has the style of a champion who crushes her opponents with her overwhelming performance. Simply put, she is purely strong.
In the remake version, she is described as throwing several tons of bedrock like a baseball, accelerating in mid-air to cause the ground around it to sink 40 meters deep, and overturning the bedrock to throw a mass equivalent to 7,000 tons away. The power of the attacker is further described, and if she is in a perfect condition, she can repel all attacks from Ciel's Seventh Holy Scripture and large-scale magic without showing much damage, showing her formidable body defense.
Although not mentioned much, she is the only character who was able to regenerate after being cut by the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, and is also out of the norm in terms of regeneration.
However, the aftereffects were undeniable, and in the main story of Tsukihime, she was weakened to the point of not being able to exert half of her normal strength.
Manipulation of Nature
In the old works, Arcueid fought almost exclusively with her physical abilities, but in the remake, it was revealed that she has an out-of-the-box ability to use all kinds of natural abilities as a True Ancestor.
The scale and degree of freedom of her magic is incomparably greater than that of a magician who handles the same variety of techniques in the manipulation of natural phenomena, and it is no exaggeration to say that she is, as she says, all-powerful if she can fully demonstrate her versatility.
In addition to the vacuum blade from her claws, which is her most frequently used technique, she also uses gravity manipulation to amplify her leaping power, and large-scale shock waves that are unleashed by partially deflecting the earth's rotation.
This manipulation of nature can be divided into two types: manipulation of something that already exists, such as air currents, or creation of new natural phenomena.
Marble Phantasm
Also called Marble Phantasm, the ability of a spirit to connect with the world, transforming itself (the spirit) and nature as envisioned. If it as powerful as Arcueid, she can create a city deep in the mountains by removing the limiter, and in "her world", she can bring the moon of a thousand years from now to the present day.
In combat, she can manipulate space itself to tear, compress, distort, and disintegrate her opponents, and in the Melty Blood series, she uses the chains of the Millennium Castle to appear out of thin air to bind and attack her opponents. In the remake version, this chain captures the opponent without any room for counterattack, let alone escape, even if Roa runs at lightning speed.
In the remake version, the artist has added more descriptions of the use of Marble Phantasm, and it can be used to create a whiteboard, glasses, clothes, cash, and other man-made objects in a matter of seconds.
It is also said to be capable of teleportation on the Earth because it has Nature Spirits, that are the planet's sense of touch. But it is unclear whether it is not that precise because it is on a planetary scale, or whether it is not the kind of thing that can be activated instantaneously, but it has never been described in the work.
Event Storage
This is the ability of the True Ancestors, who are the planet’s sense of touch, which appeared in the remake version.
Conceptual and physical storage of objects grown on the surface of the star. Confiscation of any creations that occur on the surface of the planet, the ability to requisition textures. Although it is a different ability at the level of Authority in terms of Divine Spirit, it is considered more accurate to say that it is a system than a skill because it is a function of the planet.
The gravitational sphere that appeared under the feet of the Luminous Bodied Arcueid was large enough to contain the texture of the entire planet.
Performance in Melty Blood
Along with Shiki and Ciel, she is a standard type, an infighter who mainly engages in close-range combat.
She uses his claws, shockwaves, and her physical abilities as a True Ancestor to attack her opponents at a furious pace. Although she is generally well-balanced, her lack of props and the short reach of her normal attacks leave large gaps when she misses a powerful shot, so the key to her success is how well she can keep her attackers in close quarters.
The Arc Drive is a summoning of chains by Marble Phantasm and the Another Arc Drive is Melty Blood (メルティブラッド), in which the chains are bound and then torn apart with red claws. The Last Arc is Shall We Play Around Some? (少しばかり戯れようか?), which emits a golden light accompanied by the illusion of Crimson Moon.
The performance changes when the Last Arc is performed against Shiki or Shiki Nanaya where they get cut into 18 pieces.
