Apostle

Apostles (使徒) or disciples are messengers, often categorize as Christian missionaries. The Japanese word for angel is sky messenger and in a way also fits in this role. This article will refer to the angels from Eva.

Overview

Apostole (使徒, shito) or disciple often refers to the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ in a narrow sense (mainly in Japan), but in a broader sense it refers to Christian missionaries who played important roles and their titles. In Japan it is often used as a motif for manga and anime characters, and is particularly famous as the name of the fictional enemies in the science fiction anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.
