Three Primary Colors of Color

The three primary colors of color (色の三原色) is a color combination of cyan, magenta, and yellow.

Overview

The three primary colors of color (色の三原色, iro no sangenshoku) is a combination of cyan (light blue), magenta (reddish purple), and yellow. Because using color in this term is vague and difficult to understand, it is sometimes called the three primary colors of colorants (色料の三原色) or the three primary colors of the dark (闇の三原色).

Cyan and blue are clearly different colors, and magenta is more purple than red, although they are sometimes referred to as blue, red, and yellow.

They are all made from combinations of the three primary colors of light (blue + green = cyan, red + blue = magenta, and green + red = yellow).

These three colors are also used in printer ink.
