Overview
Asumi Kanna (神名 あすみ, Kanna Asumi) is 12 years old sixth grader at an elementary school in Mitakihara. Although her facial expression is young for her age, her personality is truly insidious, and this is especially evident when she is a magical girl.
Her signature phrase is Sayonara winning (サヨナラ勝ち). Despite her cute appearance, her wish is the misfortune of those around her whom she knows. Her weapon is a morning star and her magic is mental attack.
Her nickname from fans is Asumin (あすみん).
Conception and Creation
Asumi was created in a post number response thread on 2channel's Breaking News VIP board titled Since a MadoMagi movie is coming, let's make a fictional magical girl and fish (bait) Mado pigs lol (まどマギ映画やるし架空の魔法少女作ってまど豚釣ろうぜwwwwww).
For such a kind of thread (a.k.a. fishing threads), which usually fail due to "shitty" post number replies, the creation was made more seriously than expected, and thanks to the efforts of the artists, the character ended up being of higher quality than 2channel users expected.
To put it simply, this character was created through the same process as Kasane Teto, Mitori Kawashiro, and Akane Miura.
A tweet with an image of the fake leaked magazine article exposed for baiting fans was posted on Twitter at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012, by one 2channel user, and in the next 24 hours, it received more than 6,000 re-tweets and made a splash on Twitter and the Breaking News VIP board.

Later, it was revealed that it was fake and the trolling ended, but the response was so great (the 2channel users who actually did the trolling did not expect the trolling to go this far) that even Gen Urobuchi, the scriptwriter of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, tweeted his thoughts on the character.
Background
Her parents divorced when she was very young, and since then she grew up in a single-mother home, and although it was difficult, she and her mother overcame daily life together.
However, her mother died suddenly due to overwork.
She was then taken in by relatives on her mother's side, but the people who took her in saw her only as a hindrance, and she spent her days being subjected to unimaginable and horrific abuse.
Eventually, Asumi, hurt both physically and mentally, went to her real father for help, but he had already built a new family and was leading a happy life.
Seeing her own father in such a state, Asumi despairs and harbors resentment toward him and the people around her, who live their happy days comfortably without knowing their own suffering.
As if they had been aiming for her, Kyubey appears and offers her a contract.
As a result, Asumi uses her one-time miracle to fulfill her wish to make everyone she knows unhappy.
Appearance
She has a silver bob cut as well as silver eyes and wears a gothic lolita costume when she transforms into a magical girl. Her headdress comprise of a veil with red ribbons and a small black hat.
