Overview
Hocotate (ホコタテ星, Hokotate Sei, lit. "Planet Hokotate") is the home planet of Olimar, the main character of Pikmin and Pikmin 2.
His place of work, Hocotate Freightt, is also located on this planet.
From the cutscenes in Pikmin 2 (or maybe just around the Hocotate Freight company), the soil is as rough as a wilderness.
It seems to be located between the planet PNF-404 and the planet Koppai, which is the setting of Pikmin 3 (from Charlie's statement in Pikmin 3).
Pikmin-like vegetables, pikpik carrots and onions are the specialty of this planet (these vegetables are also used as food for the Olimar people who are exploring the planet PNF-404).
Oxygen is poisonous to the inhabitants of this planet, so life-support systems are necessary for activities on a planet with an oxygen atmosphere such as PNF-404.
The unit of currency is the poko, and according to Olimar, 100 poko are enough for a full meal of fine cuisine.
The name comes from the town of Hokotate, where Nintendo is headquartered.
