Overview
Rock Pikmin (岩ピクミン, Iwa Pikumin) are a new addition to the group in Pikmin 3. Its flowers are blue-purple in color.
Some players call them Rock Pikmin in katakana (as ロックピクミン) when they were first announced because their bodies are made of hard rocks. They have crystal-clear arms and legs, and their feet in particular are sometimes referred to as gorgeous legs (美脚).
They have a mischievous husky voice that is a little lower than that of other Pikmin, and their rolling gestures are very adorable. Overall, they have similar characteristics to the Purple Pikmin, but their movement speed is the same as that of other Pikmin.
Although its peculiar body shape made it surprisingly mysterious among the Pikmin, it was revealed in a description on Nintendo's special official website, Pikmin Garden, that it is actually a species of the Resident Pikmin, the same species as Bulbmin.
In other words, they are a parasitic species that evolved to live by parasitizing rocks, rather than having their bodies transformed into rocky materials.
In addition, the interior of the rock seems to be hollow, which is why the parasite is light and nimble for its material.
This shocking revelation, which came over 10 years after the release of Pikmin 3, drew a lot of surprise on social networking sites. Some of them seemed to be of the type that "I wondered if one day Resident Pikmin would become an official member of the group, and they were right next to me the whole time.".
