Overview
Love Tester (ラブテスター, Rabu Tesutā) is a product released by Nintendo in 1969 designed for the targeted demographic of "young ladies and men". It was developed by the late Gunpei Yokoi, who created many of Nintendo's early products such as the Ultra Hand and the Game & Watch.
The machine was designed to measure the degree of affection to determine the love between two people by measuring the wobble of the meter's needle.
It is a current meter whose needle moves by conducting electricity when the metal part of the meter is moistened in the palm of the hand that holds it.
In fact, rather than measuring the degree of affection between two people, it is a joke product designed to create an opportunity for the opposite sex to get together. Therefore, there is no problem even if it is done between the same sex.
The results did not ring true, and the product was discontinued within a year of its launch. The technology is actually almost the same as the Lie Detector technology.
