Overview
Nimitz-class are a class of nuclear powered aircraft carriers that have been in service with the US Navy since 1975. At least two of them have been forward deployed in Japan (the USS George Washington CVN-73 and the USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76).

- The USS Nimitz appeared in the 1980 Sci-Fi film The Final Countdown.
- A renamed USS Harry S. Truman (Over the Rainbow) appears in the 1995 anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.
- Several Nimitz class carriers appear in The Silent Service manga as well as it's OVA and film adaptions.
