VF-84 Jolly Rogers was a US Navy fighter squadron that existed until 1995. The Squadron had flown various aircraft including the F4U Corsair, the F-4 Phantom II and finally the F-14A Tomcat. VF-84 took part in World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War and the No-fly zone over Bosnia.
The squadron's emblem served as the inspiration for Skull Squadron's emblem in the Macross franchise. VF-84 also appeared in the 1980 film The Final Countdown.
