Overview
P.A. Works, Inc. (株式会社ピーエーワークス, mainly written as P.A.WORKS) is a Japanese animation production company based in Nanto, Toyama. The company name stands for Progressive Animation Works.
Established 10 November 2000. The head office is located near the Jōbana SA on the Tōkai-Hokuriku Expressway. Along with Kyoto Animation, it is one of the leading animation production companies based in the regional areas.
Its works cover a wide range of genres, including coming-of-age, romance, science fiction and fantasy, among which many of them feature young girls at the centre of the story.
The studio is also known for its works that use detailed depictions of real-life landscapes and background art.
When a work is set in Toyama (or neighbouring prefectures), where the studio is headquartered, it is often broadcast by stations in Toyama Prefecture. However, if the story takes place outside Toyama Prefecture, it may not be broadcast.
