Overview
Articles that are sometimes regarded as problematic because they are created by pixiv users themselves, or as "privatization of articles". Although not explicitly prohibited in the terms of use, it is often considered a "breach of etiquette" and often leads to an editing war, with the article being whitewashed by other users or returned.
Articles deemed to be self-published articles
- Self-introduction of the editor themselves (pixiv Encyclopedia does not have a page that can be used for self-introduction like "My Page" of Nico Nico Encyclopedia. Such content should be written in the pixiv profile).
- Articles related to creation by the editors themselves (original works, original characters, fabricated settings of characters in secondary creations, combination names, etc.)
- Replacing the main image with the editor's own work, etc.
- Advertising of products, services, or organizations in which the editor is involved.
- Self-introduction of Virtual YouTubers (Due to the circumstances in which Virtual YouTubers themselves conduct their own ego searches, the number of self-promotional articles by some insufferable activists is on the rise.).
Problems
The following are some of the problems with these articles:
- Public nature of the articles created
- Credibility to the articles created
- pixiv and the pixiv Encyclopedia are not tools of commercial promotion or propaganda
- Interference with searches
- Burden on servers
Public nature of self-published articles
As pixiv Encyclopedia calls itself an internet encyclopedia, any description of inside information that can only be understood by those involved is considered "privatization of the encyclopedia". In addition, if an item is used in more than one sense, it must be mentioned, so it is important to keep in mind the possibility of copyrighted works or characters with the same name appearing in the future.
In the pixiv Encyclopedia, however, the help section states
- The pixiv Encyclopedia is a service that allows users to create articles about pixiv tags, including descriptions of pixiv tags, related works, and related tags, so that newcomers to pixiv can enjoy them more.
The description of the service states that pixiv is a service that allows users to create articles about pixiv tags and related works and related tags.
Authenticity of Authored Articles
Basically, it is difficult to prove the authenticity of an article that is considered a self-authored article because the source of the article is in the author's own mind, which cannot be referred to by a third party.
Even in the pixiv Encyclopedia, which does not require a source, describing a lie as the truth is a violation of the terms of use (Article 14, Paragraph 11, Item 3 of the Terms of Use). Therefore, unless it is common knowledge known to everyone, an appropriate source of information may be required (if there is no source of information, it is indistinguishable from "personal delusion").
