Overview
In the Super Smash Bros. series, this term refers to original characters that have no original series.
They mainly play the roles of enemies and bosses. In the Smash Bros. series, where various series are intermingled, original characters can be released without any copyright issues and without hesitation, and even if they are defeated, they do not damage the image of the series, so they can be said to support Smash Bros. from the shadows (exceptions include Giga Bowser, who is based on Bowser from the Super Mario series, and Master Hand and Crazy Hand, who appear in some of the Kirby series, so it is not as if they are completely unrelated to other games).
Furthermore, from Super Smash Bros. for comes the Mii Fighter, a fighter that originates from the Smash Bros. series. Mii fighters have been increasing their presence in Smash Bros.
The game in which the most original characters appeared was the adventure mode Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

- Although it is a Mii, it is not part of the Mii series, but rather the Super Smash Bros. series. It is, after all, the first fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series.
- Strictly speaking, it is not a character, but a being or object.
- Appeared only in background.
