HAL Laboratory

HAL Laboratory (HAL研究所 or ハル研究所, Haru Kenkyūjo), formerly shortened as HALKEN is a game company famous for being the creator of the Kirby series, and blocks that resemble the letters HAL appeared in the Kirby series and the BoxBoy! trilogy.

The dog with eggs logo been used since 1998 was designed by Shigesato Itoi (although some people mistake it for a mole). The HALKEN logo used before that had an illustration that looked like a spring.

The original name of the company is HAL9000, the computer that appears in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
