The Soviet Air Forces (VVS or Voenno-Vozdushnye Sily) was the main air arm of the former Soviet Union until the country's division in 1991. The Soviet Air Forces was seperate to the Soviet PVO Strany (Soviet Air Defence Forces) which operated Interceptor aircraft.
