Tu-22

The Tupolev Tu-22 Blinder is a Soviet built strategic bomber that was the first supersonic bomber.

The Blinder however had several issues relating to its lack of range and speed as well as being difficult to fly and maintain. The Blinder also had safety issues relating to its ejection seat being downward, making it unsafe when used low or on the ground.

The Tu-22M Backfire was not a variant of the Tu-22 but named so for political reasons.
